After the immediate success of the first Big Heart 5K last August, the Reds and Blues will be coming back to Walton Park to do battle again - with the Reds looking to avenge their defeat last year.
The battling Blues took first, second and third positions - although they weren't supposed to be taking it that seriously!
The day was about commemorating the life and career of one of Everton's greatest ever players - Alan Ball.
Although the day had an obvious Everton bias it was a credit to the Reds that so many of them took part.
They are clearly always keen to take on the Blues without much encouragement!
The Big Heart 5K is being supported by the Everton Foundation this year and the event is supporting the Rhys Jones Memorial Fund. It is expected that a second charity will be announced shortly to maintain the fund raising balance. Last year around £3,000 was raised by those taking part.
The format will be the same again this year with a special event
t-shirt being given to all those taking part in the run.
The shirts will carry the famous Blue number 8 and Red number 7 and
runners will be encouraged to WEAR THEIR SHIRTS WITH PRIDE on race
day. Last year every
one of them did and it made for a fantastic event.
It is anticipated that around 1,000 runners will be taking part on 9 August and entry forms are available by clicking here.
